硬质聚氨酯泡沫是用聚醚或聚酯与多异氰酸酯为主要原料，再加阻燃剂、稳定剂和发泡剂等，经混合、搅拌产生化学反应而形成发泡体的一种新型的低温隔热材料。泡沫的闭孔率高，吸水性小。
Rigid polyurethane foam is a new kind of thermal insulating material for low temperature applications. It is mainly made from polyether or polyester plus isocyanate ester added with flame retardant, stabilizing agent and foaming agent and it changes into foaming body through chemical reaction after mixed and stirred. It has high rate of closed cells and low water absorption.
由于其气孔内为低导热系数的发泡剂气体，有一定的自熄性，常用来作保冷和低温范围的保温。它具有导热系数小、强度高、质轻、隔音、防震、绝缘、漂浮性强、化学性能稳定、施工方便等优点，广泛应用于石油、化工、乙烯、冷库、食品储藏及家庭用具电冰箱和建筑工业中隔墙、壁板等行业中使用。应用时，可以由预制厂预制成板状或管壳状等制品，也可以现场喷涂或灌注发泡。
Because of the foaming agent air with low thermal conductivity in its cells, the rigid polyurethane foam will self-extinguish. As a result, it is usually used as cold insulation and heat preservation at low temperatures. It has following features: low thermal conductivity, high strength, light weight, quakeproof, insulation, strong floatability, stable chemical properties and convenience in construction. Consequently, it is widely used in industries of petroleum, chemical engineering, ethylene, refrigerated warehouse, food storage, partition wall and wallboard in family refrigerator and architecture industry. It can be prefabricated into slab or pipe, or be foamed on site.
